Our Project Team’s Lectures in High Schools Between 3 March 2021 – 20 April 2021
As we aim to organise intensive education and training to some number of selected high schools to contribute mostly to the students’ level of understanding on the European Union, our staff attended some lectures from 3 March 2021 to 20 April 2021. On 3 March 2021, Jean Monnet Professor Dr. Özgür Ünal – Eriş as an alumna of Robert College was a guest speaker at the webinar on EU and Türkiye – EU relations organised by Robert College European Youth Parliament Club. This lecture talked about the history of Türkiye-EU relations and the main problems and opportunities in this relationship. It aimed to broaden the minds of the young people and give them the opportunity to elaborate on both the future of the EU and the relationship between Türkiye and the EU.
Within the scope of Tink Schools and Jean Monnet Chair COAWARE Webinar Series, which are held on 4-11-18 and 25 March 2021, Jean Monnet Professor Dr. Özgür Ünal Eriş and team members Prof. Dr. Michelangelo Guida, Dr. Oğuzhan Göksel and Dr. Z. Selen Artan – Bayhan have had detailed conversations and shared their views on the History of the European Union and Türkiye-EU Relations, Analysis of the Place of the EU in Turkish Political Life through Political Parties, Europeanization and the Image of Türkiye in the European Media, and History of Migration in Türkiye and EU Refugee Rights. With these webinars, it is aimed that young people have a detailed perspective on both the future of the EU and Türkiye-EU relations in their minds.
On 20 April 2021, Jean Monnet Chair Prof. Dr. Özgür Ünal – Eriş and chair team member Dr. Zeynep Selen Artan – Bayhan came together with the students in cooperation with the Koç School European Parliament Club. High school students rarely receive lectures on the gender equality in Türkiye, so this will be an opportunity to inform them both on discussions regarding gender norms, and EU’s transformative effects on gender equality in Türkiye.
